Congratulations Central PA Lax

For the second quarter of 2016, US Lacrosse is excited to recognize the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of US Lacrosse. The chapter was outstanding at seamlessly and smoothly transitioning from former President Jeremy Adams to President Rich Hergenroeder. The executive board, under Rich’s lead, serves over 6,300 members. By increasing their outreach in the Central PA community, the Chapter has exceled at promoting the growth of lacrosse through program expansion, education and events.

The Central PA Chapter has continuously worked hard to grow and foster lacrosse programs in the region. This year, the Chapter promoted the growth of lacrosse by awarding over $5,000 in grants to eight different organizations within the region. With the expansion of youth programs increasing to over 80 boys and girls groups in the area, the Chapter brought together representatives from both community and select travel clubs for the first time as part of a major stakeholders meeting to enable the community to grow the sport together.

With the expanding participants, the Chapter has been making strides to enhance the experience and opportunities of all members. In February of 2016, the chapter hosted 96 participants in Level I and Level II Coaching Education Program (CEP) Clinics. Additionally, the Chapter held its third annual Youth Summit, and identified 13 action items for the Board to consider over the 2016-17 season.

To give players the opportunity to look into continuing their lacrosse careers post-high school, the Chapter used social media to promote college recruiting and showcase opportunities in Central Pennsylvania. The Chapter has done a great job in further growing its web and social media presence, with an increase of followers.

The Central PA Chapter has been hard at work planning the Inaugural Hall of Fame Awards Dinner, set for January 29, 2017 and was able to land Penn State Head Coach Jeff Tambroni as the key note speaker. This season, Tambroni led his team to the Big Ten semi-finals and an upset victory over undefeated Denver.

We would like to thank the Central PA Chapter for their tireless efforts to grow and celebrate the game while consistently sharing the US Lacrosse values. Congratulations to the Central PA Chapter on this recognition!
